The Systems Engineering Technologies Department is charged with identifying, developing and applying new technologies that can address the Government's most challenging Systems Engineering problems. 
  • This is an opportunity for experienced Model Based System Engineers who are highly motivated, innovative and self-directed. This position provides challenging opportunities to apply and expand one’s systems architecture experience and modeling & analytical skills. Specific areas of interest include Model Based Engineering (MBSE, MDA, MDD, MDE), Systems of Systems, architecture modeling, analysis of complex systems, and decision support. 

This position is in-office in Albuquerque, New Mexico and requires working on Kirtland Airforce Base with limited remote work. 

Day to day responsibilities 
  • As a Senior Engineer, you will have the opportunity to leverage and grow your systems engineering expertise by: 
  • Supporting development, configuration management, and maintenance (defect resolution + enhancements) of MBSE (SysML) artifacts, model interfaces and modeling tool updates for multiple baselines through full lifecycle of product development--architecture and design, through integration, test, acceptance and field support 
  • Translating customer’s IT needs and future goals into a plan by crafting model-based approaches and evolve them with advanced technology solutions.  Plan, design, develop, test, and integrate complex systems solutions. 
  • Assisting with stakeholder communications, responses to taskers, participation in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), briefing external organizations and preparing technical assessments (e.g. trade-offs and gap analysis) 
  • Assisting with the identification of mission assurance risks, impacts, and artifact generation for compliance 
  • Supporting analysis and actions to address gaps 
  • Supporting management of end-to-end use cases with traceability between various stakeholders  
  • Estimating, planning, scheduling, and executing data engineering activities  
  • Supporting engineering activities for proposal efforts  
  • Ability to organize work activities, monitor and mentor teammates & clients in the development of MBSE model artifacts 
  • Developing and maintaining Data Science artifacts and Architecture 
  • Developing and driving MBSE model taxonomy and ontology consensus with stakeholders 
  • Assisting with preparing status reports and transferring knowledge to Government clients 

Skills/Education/Certification 

Required: 
  • Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US DoD clearance within first year of employment. 
  • Active DoD clearance. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, General Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field 
  • 5+ years of experience with product development or systems engineering and integration projects 
  • Industry experience in Model Based Engineering to include MBE, MBSE, MDA, MDD, MDE. 
  • Demonstrated programming experience in object-oriented programming (e.g. Java, C# or C++). 
  • Experience with a Model-Based Systems and Software Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, Cameo Systems Modeler or Rational Rhapsody.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, presentation, and communications skills for developing and delivering technical presentations. 
  • Referenceable project-based experience in a team environment 

Preferred:  
  • Experience with the practical application of UML or SysML modeling 
  • Data Profiling, Transformation and Modeling experience  
  • Experience authoring database queries using SQL 
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, dynamic team environment 
  • Ability to take your current skills and experience and transform them to apply to the military/defense domain. 


Beneficial: 
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary modeling and simulation (physics-level, engineering-level and/or operational-level). 
  • Data Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) Experience 
  • Deep Data Profiling and Data Modeling experience 
  • Proficiency in one or more of the programming languages for quantitative analyses (ex. Mathematica, Python, R). 
  • Knowledge of Analysis of Alternatives, Verification and Validation, Design of Experiments and data analytics. 
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:  JavaScript, HTML, CSS, C, Go, Ruby, Kotlin. 
  • Experience working with and understanding XML and XSD files. 
  • Technical writing (e.g. data definitions) experience
